Ailalec

Ailalec is a small township nestled deep in the mountains of Timor Lestè. Whilst it is an extremely beautiful place, it is very remote and access is challenging. Monsoon rains make the roads even more difficult to travel along.

This inaccessibility made Ailalec such a good base for Australian 2/4th Commandos during their time there in 1942/3.
